Legco’s House Committee on Friday voted down a request for an urgent question about district councillors being prevented from attending from their own council meeting this week.
Several pro-democracy Eastern district councillors were hoping to speak to the returning officer who barred Demosisto’s Agnes Chow from next month’s Legco by-election.
But they were blocked from entering the meeting venue by unidentified men.
The Civic Party’s Tanya Chan raised the motion at the House Committee, saying she suspected public officers had been prevented from carrying out their duties.
But pro-government lawmakers, such as unionist Wong Kwok-kin, said district council matters have nothing to do with Legco.
