Outgoing Chief Executive Leung chun- ying’s “last stand” in the Legislative Council was missed by two of his cabinet members.
Two secretaries left holes on the right side of the chamber while the chief executive fended off pointed questions related to the UGL case at the question and answer session.
Frequent-flyer Eddie Ng Hak-kim was the most obvious absentee.
The education secretary, who earned more than 216,000 points of mileage in 54 trips during his term, was in Beijing along with representatives of eight local universities.
Also absent was Secretary for Innovation and Technology Nicholas Yang Wei-hsiung, who was at a Times Higher Education event.
He said earlier that his mileage would be donated to charitable causes.
Fourteen other top officials, including Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen Kwok-keung and Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po were there to witness Leung’s last dance with the pan-dems.
